What Babbage is, and what it isn't.
The questions that come up before a demo, from districts, teachers, and parents.
We already have an IEP or SPED system. How is Babbage different?
Those systems write, sign, and store the plan. Babbage records what happens after that, class by class, and replaces neither.
Does Babbage use AI?
It can draft a log from what a teacher says out loud, and the teacher reviews every draft before it counts. The record is the product, not the drafting.
How is student data protected?
Access is role-based, and a Standard Data Privacy Agreement is signed. Babbage is built to FERPA requirements for education records and is SOC 2 compliant, with the report available on request.
What does a teacher do each day, and how long does it take?
On the days they see a student, the teacher checks off the accommodations that student was supposed to get. About two minutes with voice, closer to five to ten by hand.
Where do accommodations come from? Do teachers re-enter them?
They don't. Babbage pulls each student's accommodations from your SIS, so the teacher starts from the plan itself. Anything unusual can be added by hand.
Can teachers log from their phone, or offline?
From a phone, yes. Babbage is mobile-friendly. There is no offline mode today, so a teacher needs Wi-Fi or data.
Can we pull a dated record on demand?
Yes. Every log is saved with the date and time it was submitted, so you can pull a record for any student showing what was delivered and when. That is what an audit or a complaint asks for.
What do parents see?
The accommodations their child's plan calls for, whether each one was met, and the teacher's note when something changed. Never another child, and never grades or diagnoses.
How do we buy it, and can we start with one school?
Through the TIPS cooperative purchasing contract, so most districts skip a new RFP. You can start with one school. There is no district-wide commitment on day one.
